Darjeeling tea

Tea becomes an universal drink today, among which Darjeeling tea is the best variety.This tea is renowned for its flowery aroma when brewed, yielding a skinny-bodied, fair-haired blend.

Darjeeling is a small hilly land of West Bengal (India) where the nature puts its all beauty and appreciate climate to grow world's best tea.
The local beautiful tribal women with their slender finger cut the tea leaves,and then the process upto cup occurs.
Scientifically in 1845 the Darjeeling tea 1st had grown by Dr.Archibald Campbell, was a Britishman.A Scottish botanist Robert Fortune collected seed and seedlings secretly from China and gifted it to Governor general of Calcutta of this time.In
1847 this tea was harvested first time for economic perposes. Then a tea estate or tea garden was made in Lebong of Darjeeling.
In 1859 the first tea factory was made in Makaibari near karsiyang and Darjeeling area.
In 1861 first tea auction center was established in Calcutta.
The Darjeeling tea mainly are of 4 types.black, white, green and ooblong tea.

The Darjeeling tea is made from the small variety of ( Camellia sinensis).
According to weather the tea harvesting are of 2 type,first flush(march to may) and the second flush(may to July).
Second flush tea is the world famous Darjeeling tea.This time the famous scented muscatel tea grows with larger leaves.
Second flush is 20% of total harvested of Darjeeling tea, though it earns 40-50% among the total Darjeeling tea.
This tea is exported to America, Japan and various countries of Europe.
In 2004 the Darjeeling tea got India's first GI tag for west Bengal.
